Moi Helsinki, Lönnrotinkatu, Helsinki

In collaboration with Moi Helsinki

Moi Helsinki’s City Flat offers a stylish base for urban explorers.

Moi Helsinki, that is Hi Helsinki, has been renting flats for ten years around Helsinki city centre. The styles of the flats vary from bohemian red brick to luxury flat with its own grand piano.

My flat for the night is City Flat, in a 1920’s beautifully pinkish building. The flat is stylish and airy and equipped with everything an occasional visitor might need from hair products and hair dryer to basic kitchen utensils. Light coloured City Flat makes a perfect base to explore city centre Helsinki, but if you are tired from all your travels, it is also a cosy flat to stay in, cook, read on the sofa and just relax. The building dates from 1929 so beware: the shower and toilet room is very small! You’ll find more information on different options on Moi Helsinki’s homepage.

My City Flat for the night is located on a street called Lönnrotinkatu. The long street runs from city centre Helsinki, just beside the iconic department store Stockmann, to all the way towards Hietalahti Market Square and harbour. The area is renown for corky galleries and shops and varied restaurant and coffee options.

The flat has a memorable Helsinki view towards the harbour and market square: Here, you’ll also find a Market Hall, which is a superb foodie destination. And if you don’t fancy making your own breakfast, the restaurant and bakery Levain, a few blocks away, offers the best brekkie around!

The light colours and bright evening sun made my stay in Moi Helsinki’s City Flat an evening to remember. From the window, I saw how the market square vendors packed their goods and drove away. I saw the last rays of sunlight over the harbour, and then, the evening getting darker: the first hints of autumn were lingering above Helsinki’s rooftops. I saw the yellow street lamps lit before tucking myself in for a good night’s sleep and letting the dreams of living in Helsinki to take me away.
